"The end justifies the means." - Machiavelli

I interpreted this quote as, if we do something we can only understand why we did it after it has been done. So in a way like we could think we have a clear goal and that what we want, but once we have reached that goal it isn't what we expected or wanted so its almost like that other quote, "Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it." Thats what I think it means.
