Charlemagne

Charlemagne was born in 747 April and died the 28th of January. He was the holly roman emperor that conquered most of Europe. He participated in the Lombard War (773-775); the Spanish War (778-801); the conquest of Bavaria (787-788); the conquest of the Avars (791-801); the Byzantine War (802-812). thorough this he united Europe and began the Middle ages. The reason he is so important is because he almost made the government system of western civilization by introducing trails and juries, he brought back education into the the middle ages and united Europe.


The Crusades

The people in Europe thought that they were for gaining back the holly land (Jerusalem), but really it was so that the church would rise in popularity and that they could gain power. The crusades coast lots of money so the churched down graded the wealth of kings and nobles making them even more powerful. This in a way united Europe against a common enemy through the crusades which brought them 1 step further out of the dark ages.
